PROBLEM
The Career Industry Council of Australia, on behalf of the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations, partnered with Strawberry Solutions to develop six online modules that would aid the training of mentors in the Parent Pathways service. The service provides vital career support to parents.
To train mentors the challenge was to provide a balance of information for mentors to perform their role and show them how to locate additional resources for topics that fall outside their scope of work.
SOLUTION
Strawberry Solutions worked closely with CICA and the Department to create specialised, engaging eLearning modules in Articulate Rise. Each module was carefully designed to ensure relevance, authenticity, and useful information to perform daily tasks.
Key components of the solution:
- Close collaboration with policy and audit experts
We worked iteratively with EPA Victoria’s internal specialists to ensure content accuracy, correct terminology, and alignment with existing governance structures and procedures.
- Use of process diagrams and visual scaffolding
Custom diagrams were developed to visually represent audit and risk workflows, helping learners grasp interdependencies and decision points without increasing cognitive load.
- Integration of internal support resources
Links to internal tools, guidance documents, and support materials were embedded within the modules, allowing learners to extend their understanding and apply learning directly within their operational environment.
- Clear, professional tone
Visual design and instructional language were carefully calibrated to reflect the seriousness of regulatory responsibilities while maintaining clarity and accessibility.
VALUE DELIVERED
The Department now has an on-demand training solution to upskill their network of mentors and ensure consistent and thoughtful advice is given through the service.
- 6 engaging, self-paced modules deliver high quality training to new and existing mentors. The topics and content stand alone or work together as a full program.
- Strong learner engagement through practical scenarios and active reflection.
- Links to resources for mentors to use on the job during career conversations.
The modules support goals around career education and lifelong learning by placing mentors at the heart of informed, supported decision-making.
